This simulator is for fun and for understanding the odds — it doesn't predict anything. Every draw is separate and completely random. Past results don't change your chances.
Using the estimated prizes, the average return is about 45.0% (about ¥90 for 1 ticket). All prizes are the theoretical values (estimates) from the official lottery guide. Actual prizes vary with each draw's sales and number of winners.

How to use
1. Choose a game and bet type
In the panel below, choose “Numbers 3” or “Numbers 4”, then tap a bet type (Straight, Box, Set or Mini). Each card shows the odds of its top prize. To try your own number, choose “Pick my own” under “How to pick” and enter it. “Quick pick” fills in a number for you and “Copy” copies it.

2. Choose how many, then draw
Choose how many tickets (1 to 1 million) under “Tickets to buy”, then scroll back up and tap “Buy and draw”. Your tickets appear, a wheel of numbers spins for each digit and stops one by one from the left, and your tickets are checked against that draw. Winning tickets get a stamp and the net shows below.

3. Keep going, or draw until you win
Choose “Keep going” under “Repeat” to keep drawing with the same number of tickets until you tap “Stop”. “Until a Straight win” (or “Until a Box win” for Box) fast-forwards, stops at the draw you win, and shows how many draws it took and how much you spent.

4. See the results so far and the chart
Scroll down to “Results so far” to compare the money spent, money won, net and return rate, the chart of the net over time, and the official and actual odds for each prize. Change “Tickets per week” to see how many years that equals. Results are kept separately for each game and bet type.

Good to know before you start
- It doesn't predict winning numbers or suggest “lucky” numbers. Every number is equally likely to be drawn.
- You can't buy real tickets here, and there are no links to ticket sellers.
- All prizes are estimates based on official theoretical values. Actual amounts change with each draw.
Numbers odds and how this simulator works
In Japan's Numbers lottery, the winning number is one of 1,000 possibilities (000–999) for Numbers 3, or one of 10,000 (0000–9999) for Numbers 4. A Straight, which must match the order too, is 1 in 1,000 for Numbers 3 and 1 in 10,000 for Numbers 4. A Box ignores the order, so it wins more often but its prize is divided by the number of ways; a Set buys half Straight and half Box. Whatever the bet type, the expected value of a ¥200 ticket is about ¥90 (a payout rate of about 45%) — the rest is a loss.
This simulator decides each draw's winning number first, using your device's cryptographic random numbers (crypto.getRandomValues), and checks every ticket you bought for that draw against it. Even if you buy 1,000,000 tickets, there is only one draw, just like the real thing. The 3D draw machine only stops its number wheels on the number already decided and never changes the result. The checking runs separately from the page (in a Web Worker), so even 1,000,000 tickets won't freeze it. Your numbers and results stay on this device and are never sent anywhere.
FAQ
Common questions about the Numbers simulator.
Are my numbers or results sent anywhere?
No. All drawing and counting happens in the browser on this device, and your numbers and totals stay only on this device. You can erase them with “Clear totals”.
Can it predict which numbers are more likely to win?
No. Each Numbers draw is separate and completely random. Numbers that came up (or haven't for a while) in past draws, or the order of your digits, don't change your chances. This simulator is for fun and for understanding the odds, not for predictions.
What's the difference between Straight, Box, Set and Mini?
Straight wins when all the digits match in the exact order; Box wins when the same digits come up in any order. Set buys ¥100 each of Straight and Box: if the order matches too, the Straight part wins, and if only the digits match, the Box part wins. Mini is only for Numbers 3 and matches the last 2 digits in order.
What do “6-way” and “24-way” mean for a Box?
It's the number of ways your digits can be arranged. “123” in Numbers 3 can be arranged 6 ways, while a number with a repeated digit like “112” has 3 ways. For Numbers 4 it's 24, 12, 6 or 4 ways. The more ways, the easier it is to win and the smaller the estimated prize. Numbers with all the same digits, like “111”, can't be played as Box or Set.
What prize amounts are used?
Numbers prizes change with each draw's sales and number of winners. This simulator uses the theoretical values from the official lottery guide as estimates (Numbers 3 Straight about ¥90,000, Box about ¥15,000, Mini about ¥9,000; Numbers 4 Straight about ¥900,000, and so on). Amounts for other numbers of ways are calculated the same way.
What are the expected value and payout rate?
Whatever the bet type, the expected value of a ¥200 ticket is about ¥90, a payout rate of about 45%. The more you buy, the closer your winnings get to about 45% of what you spent — the rest is a loss.
How long does it take to win a Numbers 4 Straight?
The odds are 1 in 10,000, so on average it takes about 10,000 tickets (about ¥2 million). Buying 1 ticket every weekday (5 a week), that's about 38 years. With luck you might win within a few hundred tickets, or it might take more than 30,000. To quit partway, press “Stop” and everything up to that point is added to your results.
Won't buying 1,000,000 tickets freeze the page?
No. The checking runs separately from the page (in a Web Worker) and finishes while the draw machine is spinning. “Until a Straight win” fast-forwards, and you can press “Stop” at any time.
The draw machine isn't showing in 3D.
The 3D number wheels use WebGL. On devices or browsers without WebGL, flat number cards flip and stop instead. Results are decided the same way. If “Reduce motion” is turned on in your device settings, the animation is skipped and the result is shown right away.
Is it free?
Yes, it's free. No sign-up needed, and there are no ads.
