A day is 24 hours and a week is 7 days. Months and years are left out because their length varies. Values that don't divide evenly are rounded and marked with “≈”.

Good to know before you start
- Months and years aren't included — months have different lengths and leap years add a day.
- It doesn't work out the time between two clock times (like 9:00 to 17:30). It only converts lengths of time.
- Values that don't divide evenly (1000 seconds is 0.2777… hours) are rounded at about the 6th decimal place and marked with “≈”.
How time units convert
Time counts in sixties: 1 minute is 60 seconds and 1 hour is 60 minutes. That's why 1.5 hours is 1 hour 30 minutes, not 1 hour 50 minutes. To turn decimal hours into minutes, multiply by 60; into seconds, by 3600. To split 3725 seconds, divide by 3600 for the hours (1), divide the remaining 125 by 60 for the minutes (2), and what's left is the seconds (5).
This tool keeps your number as an exact fraction, so values like a third of an hour come out as exactly 20 minutes. The h:mm:ss result keeps counting hours past 24 (26:03:04) instead of rolling over into days — the same as the [h]:mm:ss format in spreadsheets, so you can paste it straight in.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about converting units of time.
Are the numbers I enter sent anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser on this device, and nothing you type is sent to a server.
How many hours and minutes is 3725 seconds?
1 hour 2 minutes 5 seconds. Under “Number & unit”, enter 3725 and pick “Seconds”: you'll see 1h 2m 5s under “Hours, minutes, seconds” and 1:02:05 under “h:mm:ss”.
How many minutes is 1.5 hours?
90 minutes. Time counts in sixties, so 1.5 hours is 1 hour 30 minutes, not 1 hour 50. Likewise 0.1 hours is 6 minutes and 0.25 hours is 15 minutes.
How do I turn 1 hour 45 minutes into decimal hours?
Choose “h · m · s” at the top, enter 1 in “Hours” and 45 in “Minutes”. The “Hours” result shows 1.75 — handy for timesheets and hourly rates.
Can I enter 60 or more in the minutes or seconds box?
Yes. For example, 90 minutes and 75 seconds add up to 5475 seconds (1h 31m 15s).
What does h:mm:ss show past 24 hours?
It keeps counting hours instead of switching to days, so 93784 seconds is 26:03:04. The split into days appears under “Hours, minutes, seconds” as 1d 2h 3m 4s.
Why do some results start with “≈”?
It means the value doesn't divide evenly and has been rounded. 1000 seconds is 0.27777… hours, so it shows ≈ 0.277778. The “≈” isn't included when you copy.
Why can't I convert to months or years?
Because they don't have a fixed length — a month is 28 to 31 days and a year is 365 or 366. For a rough figure, divide the “Days” result by 30 or 365.
Can I enter decimals?
Yes, up to 6 decimal places. Thousands separators like “1,000” and full-width digits work too.
Is it free?
Yes. There's nothing to install, no sign-up and no ads.
