Good to know before you start
- The signature you add here is only visible. It isn’t a digital signature backed by a certificate.
- Text and signatures go into the PDF as images, so they can’t be searched or copied as text later.
- PDFs with a password or with editing restricted can’t be written on.
Visible signatures vs. digital signatures
The signature this tool adds is a “visible signature”, just like signing paper with a pen. Your handwritten signature or stamp is turned into an image and placed on top of the page. The text and images already on the page stay as they are.
A “digital signature”, used for contracts and the like, relies on a certificate so anyone can check who signed and that nothing was changed afterwards. If a document needs a digital signature, use the service the other party asks for.
FAQ
Answers to common questions before you start.
Is my PDF sent anywhere?
No. The PDF is read and written inside the browser on your device, and the file is never uploaded to a server.
Can I sign with my finger on a phone?
Yes. Tap “Signature” and a full-screen box for your signature appears. Sign with your finger and tap “Use this signature” to put it on the page.
Can I add text in any language?
Yes. Text is drawn with your device’s fonts before it goes into the PDF, so accents and other scripts come out right. You can also break it into several lines.
Can I change the date format?
When you add a “Date”, today’s date goes in as “October 23, 2026”. Select the date and use “Date format” to switch to “10/23/2026” or “2026-10-23”. You can also edit the date text directly.
Can I add a stamp?
Yes. “Stamp” places a red round seal with a name in it. Change the name under “Name on the stamp”. To use your own stamp, load a photo of it on paper with “Image” and make the white background transparent.
How do I move or resize what I placed?
Drag an item to move it, and drag the bottom-right corner that appears when it’s selected to resize it. The × at the top right removes it. To place things precisely, zoom in on the page.
Can I add things to page 2 and beyond?
Yes. Go to the page with the page list or the arrows, then place your items. Pages with signatures or text show how many items they have.
Is this a digital signature (signed with a certificate)?
No. It’s a visible signature: your handwritten signature or stamp is placed on the page as an image. For contracts that need a digital signature, use the service the other party asks for.
Can I use a password-protected PDF?
No. PDFs with a password or with editing restricted can’t be written on, and you’ll see a message when you choose one.
Is my signature saved?
It isn’t saved on your device or on a server. While the page is open, you can reuse it from “Earlier signatures” on the “Signature” screen. It’s gone when you close the page.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up, no ads, and no watermark on the saved PDF.
