How to use

  1. 1. Choose images

Tap “Choose files” and pick the photos or images you want to convert. You can pick as many as you like.

  2. 2. They turn into PNG right away

Images are converted to PNG the moment you choose them, and the file sizes before and after are shown. Slide your finger along the line on an image to compare before and after.

  3. 3. Make files smaller

With “Optimize” on, files get smaller with no change in quality. In a hurry? Turn it off and conversion finishes right away.

  4. 4. Download

Use “Download all as ZIP” to save every image at once. On iPhone, files are saved to Downloads in the Files app.

When it helps

  • Use images where WebP or AVIF won't work

When an image you saved from the web is WebP or AVIF and your app or service doesn't support it. PNG opens in almost any software or service.

    Anyone who reuses saved images

  • Paste into Word or PowerPoint

Some software, such as older versions of Office, can't insert WebP. As PNG, images go into your documents looking exactly the same.

    People making documents and manuals

  • Keep editing without losing quality

JPEG loses a little quality every time you save it. Convert to PNG before editing and it won't degrade any further, no matter how often you save.

    People who edit images

  • Keep a transparent background

PNG keeps the transparent areas of WebP and AVIF images. Converting to JPEG would fill them in.

When to stick with JPEG or WebP

  • For photos on a website, WebP or JPEG is much lighter.
  • PNG won't make an image look better than the original. JPEG blur and artifacts stay as they are.
  • If you just want smaller files, converting to WebP is a better fit than PNG.

About PNG

PNG is an image format that never loses quality. It doesn't degrade no matter how often you save, and it supports transparency. Almost all software, apps and browsers can open it.

In return, images with lots of color variation, like photos, can be several times larger than JPEG or WebP. PNG suits images with fewer colors, such as text, diagrams, logos and screenshots.

FAQ

Answers to the things people most often wonder about before converting.

Are my images sent anywhere?

No. Everything is converted inside your browser on your own device. Your images are never uploaded to a server.

Does converting to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG saves images without losing quality, but it can't bring back detail the original doesn't have. JPEG blur and artifacts stay as they are.

The file got bigger after converting.

PNG keeps full quality, so for photos it's normal to end up larger than the original JPEG or WebP. Turn on “Optimize” to make files smaller with no change in quality. If you just want smaller files, converting to WebP is a better choice.

What does “Optimize” do?

It makes files smaller by packing the data more efficiently, without changing quality at all. It takes longer than leaving it off, but files usually shrink by about 30%.

Is transparency kept?

Yes. WebP, GIF and other images with transparent areas stay transparent as PNG.

Can I convert iPhone photos (HEIC)?

This tool can't read HEIC files. For HEIC photos, use Convert HEIC to PNG. When you pick photos on an iPhone, they're usually handed over as JPEG automatically, so you can also convert them here as they are.

Can I convert animated GIFs?

Yes, but only the first frame is kept, as a still image.

What happens to photo info like location (Exif)?

It isn't included in the converted image, so this is also handy for removing location data before sharing. The photo's orientation is applied correctly.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up, and no ads.
