Every draw is independent and random, and past results never change your chances. This is not a tool for predicting winners. It is for seeing the odds for yourself, and how the losses grow the more you buy.
Using the estimated prizes, the average return is about 51.0% (about CN¥1.02 for 1 ticket). The 3rd to 6th prizes are the official fixed amounts. The 1st and 2nd prizes change with each draw’s sales and number of winners, so we use the theoretical values from the official split as estimates (51% of sales goes to prizes; after the fixed prizes, 75% of the rest goes to the 1st prize and 25% to the 2nd). The special “Fortune prize” (only while the pool is 1.5 billion yuan or more), tax and currency conversion are not included.

How to use
1. Choose your numbers
In the panel below, choose “Pick my own” under “How to pick”, then tap 6 red balls from 1 to 33 and, below them, 1 “Blue ball” from 1 to 16. “Quick pick” chooses them for you and “Copy” copies the numbers.
In the panel on the right, choose “Pick my own” under “How to pick”, then click 6 red balls from 1 to 33 and, below them, 1 “Blue ball” from 1 to 16. “Quick pick” chooses them for you and “Copy” copies the numbers.
2. Choose how many, then draw
Choose how many tickets (1 to 1 million) under “Tickets to buy”, then go back up and tap “Buy and draw”. Your tickets appear, the two drums spin, and 6 red balls and 1 blue ball roll out one by one. When they stop, your tickets are checked against that draw. Winning tickets get a stamp and the net shows below.

3. Keep drawing, or draw until the 1st prize
Choose “Keep going” under “Repeat” to keep drawing with the same number of tickets until you tap “Stop”. “Until 1st prize” fast-forwards, stops at the draw that hits the 1st prize, and shows how many draws it took and how much you spent.

4. See your results and chart
Scroll down to “Results so far” to compare what you spent, what you won, your net and the return rate, with a chart of your net over time and the official and actual odds for each prize tier. Change “Tickets per week” to see how many years that would be.

See how much comes back if you keep buying
The more you buy — 10,000, then 1 million tickets — the closer the return gets to about 51%. The net chart shows how the loss slowly piles up.

Probability lessons and school projects
Buy 1 million tickets a few times and the share of 6th and 5th prizes gets closer and closer to the official odds. It is also a worked example of combining two draw machines, red and blue.

Good to know before you start
- It does not predict winning numbers or suggest “lucky” numbers. Every combination has the same chance.
- You cannot buy real tickets here, and there are no links to ticket sellers or courier services.
- The 1st and 2nd prizes are theoretical estimates, with no tax and no currency conversion.
Double Color Ball odds and how this simulator works
The Double Color Ball (Shuangseqiu) is a number lottery of the China Welfare Lottery. You pick 6 red balls from 1 to 33 and 1 blue ball from 1 to 16 from a second machine, for 17,721,088 combinations in all. The 1st prize needs all 6 red balls and the blue ball, so the chance with one ticket is about 1 in 17.72 million. There are 3 draws a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday); buying one ticket every draw, you would win it about once every 110,000 years on average. 51% of sales goes to prizes, so a 2-yuan ticket is worth about 1.02 yuan on average (a return of about 51%). Some prize comes up about once in 14.9 tickets, but most of those are the 5-yuan 6th prize.
Before each draw, this simulator picks the winning numbers with your device’s cryptographic random numbers (crypto.getRandomValues), then checks every ticket you bought for that draw against them. Even with 1 million tickets there is only one draw, just like the real lottery. The two 3D drums only replay the numbers that were already picked and never change the result. The checking runs apart from the page (in a Web Worker), so even 1 million tickets won’t freeze it. Your numbers and results stay on this device and are never sent anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about the Double Color Ball simulator.
Are my numbers or results sent anywhere?
No. Every draw and every total is worked out in this browser on this device, and your numbers and results stay here. “Clear results” deletes them.
Can it predict which numbers are more likely to win?
No. Each Double Color Ball draw is separate and completely random. Numbers that came up last time, “hot” or “cold” numbers, and patterns in your picks don’t change your chances. This simulator is for fun and for understanding the odds, not for predictions.
How are the random numbers chosen?
It uses the browser’s cryptographic random numbers (crypto.getRandomValues) to pick, without bias, 6 different red balls from 1 to 33 and 1 blue ball from 1 to 16. The 3D drums only release the balls in the order already picked and never change the result.
What prize amounts does it use?
The 3rd to 6th prizes are the official fixed amounts (3,000, 200, 10 and 5 yuan). The 1st and 2nd prizes change each draw with sales and the number of winners, so we use the theoretical values from the official split as estimates (7,090,000 yuan for the 1st prize and 157,600 yuan for the 2nd). In reality, the 1st prize is capped at 5 million yuan per ticket (up to 10 million when the pool is 100 million yuan or more), and since February 2026 one draw pays at most 100 million yuan in 1st prizes and 70 million in 2nd prizes.
Are taxes or currency conversion included?
No. Prizes are the official amounts before tax. In China, a prize over 10,000 yuan is taxed at 20%. Amounts stay in yuan and are not converted.
What are the expected value and the return rate?
51% of sales goes to prizes, so a 2-yuan ticket is worth about 1.02 yuan on average, a return of about 51%. The more you buy, the closer what comes back gets to that share — the rest is lost.
Is the “Fortune prize” included?
No. The Fortune prize (5 yuan for matching 3 red balls) is a rule from February 2026: a special tier that starts when the pool reaches 1.5 billion yuan and stays only until it falls below 300 million (the 2nd prize also gets a bigger share during that time). We use only the 6 regular tiers.
How long does “Until 1st prize” take?
The chance is about 1 in 17.72 million, so on average it takes about 17.72 million tickets (about 35.44 million yuan). Buying 1 million tickets a draw, that is about 18 draws on average, and with bad luck it can be many times more. Press “Stop” to end early — results up to that point are added.
Won’t 1 million tickets freeze the page?
No. The checking runs apart from the page (in a Web Worker) and finishes while the drums spin. “Until 1st prize” fast-forwards, and you can press “Stop” at any time.
The draw machine isn’t shown in 3D.
The 3D drums use WebGL. On devices or browsers without WebGL, a flat drawing releases the balls one by one instead. The results are decided the same way. If “Reduce motion” is on in your device settings, the animation is skipped and the result appears right away.
How is “years” worked out?
The number of tickets bought is divided by “Tickets per week” × 52 weeks. The Double Color Ball is drawn 3 times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday), so choose “3” if you buy one ticket every draw.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up and no ads.
