How to use

  1. 1. Choose an image

Tap “Choose files” and pick the photo or image you want to add text to. A full-screen editor opens with “Your text” in the middle of the image.

Great for

  • A few words on images for social media or a blog

Put a title or comment on top of a photo. White text with a black outline stays easy to read on both bright and dark photos.

People who post on social media or blogs

  • Quick video thumbnails and banners

A bold font, a thick outline and a band behind make text that stands out. Place as many texts as you like, such as a big headline with a short line below.

People who make videos or shop announcements

  • Prices and notes on product photos

Add “New”, “Free shipping” and the like to marketplace or shop photos. Vertical text is also available for a Japanese-style look.

People who sell on marketplaces or online shops

  • Instructions and notes on photos

Write “Tap here” or “Meeting point” on a screenshot or map. Text can be rotated to follow a slanted line.

People who make guides or notices

Good to know before you start

  • The text becomes part of the image, so you can’t edit just the text after saving. To change it, add the text to the original image again.
  • Stickers, illustrations and freehand lines can’t be added. Only text.
  • You can open one image at a time. To put the same text on several images, save them one by one.

Making text easy to read on a photo

Text on a photo needs to stay readable whether it falls on a bright or a dark part. The easiest way is white text with a black outline. In this tool, new text starts with exactly that combination.

When an outline isn’t enough, add a shadow or a band behind the text. Like a news caption, a band keeps text clear no matter what’s in the photo. Vertical text makes short Japanese phrases look crisp.

How each effect helps readability

OutlineA line around the letters keeps their shape clear on any backgroundHeadlines on photos, thumbnails
ShadowThe text seems to float, with a soft feelShort captions on scenery, stylish posts

FAQ

Answers to common questions before you start.

Are my images sent anywhere?

No. Loading the image, drawing the text and saving all happen inside the browser on your device, and your image is never uploaded to a server.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. Choosing an image opens a full-screen editor where you can move text with your finger and drag a corner to resize it. On iPhone, “Save to Photos” puts the image in the Photos app.

Which fonts can I use?

You can choose from more than 30 Japanese fonts (gothic, mincho, rounded, handwriting, brush and pop styles) and Latin fonts. Fonts load from this site, so they work even if they aren’t installed on your device. Letters a font doesn’t cover are drawn with your device’s font.

Can I write vertically?

Yes. Choose “Vertical” under “Direction” and the text runs top to bottom in columns from right to left, as in Japanese and Chinese. Long-vowel marks (ー) and brackets are turned sideways, and punctuation sits at the top right.

Can I add an outline or shadow to the text?

Yes. Choose an outline from “None”, “Thin” and “Thick”, and change its color too. You can also add a shadow or a band behind the text.

Can I add more than one text?

Yes. Each press of “Add text” places a new text. It uses the same font and color as the text you had selected, so it’s easy to keep the same look.

Can I rotate or tilt the text?

Yes. Select the text and drag the round handle that appears above it to rotate it to any angle. Near every 45°, it snaps to that angle.

Does saving lower the quality?

The image size (number of pixels) stays the same. PNG is saved as is, while JPEG and WebP are saved again at a high quality. HEIC (iPhone photos) is saved as JPG.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. The “Undo” and “Redo” buttons above the image go back or forward one step at a time. On a computer, Ctrl+Z (⌘Z on a Mac) also works.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up, no ads, and no watermark on the saved image.
